++TOOLPANEL++

What It Does

The ++TOOLPANEL++ widget displays a kind of control panel to allow users to manipulate an article or get additional information.

Depending on your widget settings, the widget displays any or all of the following three elements. They always appear in this order:

This widget is similar to the ++BOTTOMTOOLS++ widget, although that widget does not include the main article image. To display only the main article image, see the ++MAINIMAGE++ and ++MAINIMAGETEXT++ widgets.

The ++TOOLPANEL++ widget is commonly used at the top of article pages, displaying the main article image before the visitor has to scroll down and also providing e-mail and print links if the visitor would like to review the article later.

The Markup Results

The ++TOOLPANEL++ markup is a block element that is displayed in one of two formats, depending upon your widget settings:

  • CSS2 Markup. This method is used if you have selected the "Use cascading style sheets (CSS) instead of tables" option in the site's widget settings. The widget is contained in a <div> tag.
  • Table Markup. This method is used if you have not selected the "Use cascading style sheets (CSS) instead of tables" option in the site's widget settings. The widget is contained in a <table> tag.

Templates Using This Widget

You may use this widget only in article page templates.
